So my old laptop broke so I got a new one and have been playing a lot of PC games now that I finally can. I can finally play PC Minecraft again and have started playing more games on steam and such. Planning on buying Farcry 3, Battlefield 3, and StarCraft 2 eventually. I got a HP Envy laptop with the following specs:

Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 4000 with DirectX 11
OS: Windows 8
RAM: 8GB
Processor: Intel Core i7
Hard drive: 1TB

I got a pretty good deal on it! $750. Hey samus, are these pretty good specs?

Graphics are ehh and the processor is overkill, but otherwise great!

Welcome to the amazing world of PC gaming.

BTW, all that for $750 is an amazing deal.

The graphics card is built into the processor. Would I be able to eventually upgrade to a better graphics card by buying one and putting it in? Or is that a little complicated since its a laptop?

I haven't had much experience with laptop expansion, but a regular graphics card won't work due to hardware/size limitations. So I really don't know if its possible or how difficult it would be.

Oh well. I will probably eventually build a tower but this can hold me over till then. I can still play games such as Planetside 2 on max graphics, and it came out a week ago.

Its not that HD4000 is bad, its just the power is going to be divided, some going to CPU, the rest to it. That and dedicated > onboard and always will be.

DayZ looks fun but glitchy as all hell.

Ya. My old laptop could barely run minecraft on its lowest settings and it would get about 10 FPS. Now I can run minecraft on max settings and get 60FPS. It makes me happy. lol

I do not remember. But we could always try other games as well. Like Team Fortress 2 or something.
